Back from Taiwan

I'm back from Taiwan!

Went there for my wedding photoshoot.

Being cheapos, we took Cathay's $450 air tix which requires us to fly SIN-BKK-HK-TPE. Luckily the return flight only requires a transit at HK. Since the tix requires us to fly on Sat, we decided to take that up as it'd translate to at least $300 worth of savings (if we fly Eva Air) and $800 worth if we take normal Cathay fare.

Reached Taoyuan airport at 12am. We were pretty anxious as we wanted to catch the last bus to the city which cost only NT145 (SGD 5) versus taking a cab NT1450 (SGD50). Managed to catch the last bus. When we alighted at the destination bus stop, it was juz a 2mins walk to the hotel. Was still congratulating myself on planning such a smooth and cheap transpo when the concierge told me that they had cancelled my room as the bridal was not able to reach us and confirm wat time we'd be reaching (the hotel policy was to hold the rooms till 7pm on no notification of arrival time). It was 1am. Needless to say, I was pissed and worried cos I knew that most rooms were alr taken up on that day and the concierge said that all their rooms were fully booked. They called up other hotels and were informed that they had full occupancy too. S I A N Z.

We decided to leave our luggage at the hotel and go scourging for another hotel. Opened my luggage and found my body lotion all over my clothes. I'm so screwed. That wasn't really my day (night). Began a frantic tissue cleanup before I decided to juz "heck", and took my toiletries and packed into my backpack and set off into the night.

We wandered on the streets for an hour before we decided to try our luck at this building which proclaimed to have rooms in their upper floors. The receptionist replied that there are rooms available and inquired if we'd like to have the room for 2h or the whole day. o_0 Needless to say, we went for the whole day. When we stepped into the room, we could still smell smoke lingering in the air. I tried not to think abt wat went on in the room before we checked in, else I'd gross myself out and wouldn't want to slp on the bed.

Finally checked in to the original hotel the following day and the rest of the trip was ok. Photoshoot was fun though we ran into pretty bad weather on the day of the shoot. It was so cold that I had cold rash after a morning out, and it got worse progressively later in the afternoon esp at the beach. Had fever that night when we got back to the hotel (think it may be due to the constant exposure to the frigid wind).

And I LOVE THE FOOD IN TAIWAN! We ate a lot after the photoshoot - Ah Zong mee sua, XXXL chicken cutlet, hu jiao bing, smelly tofu.. So happy whenever I think abt them. haha..

Was kinda sad that we have to come back so soon. Kinda regretted booking our honeymoon trip so early - else I'd request to go back to Taipei for honeymoon. haha..
